This blog was started because my partner and I, who are both circumcised, wish we were not! We feel we were robbed. And we try to educate family and friends whenever possible.
WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THE ISSUE.
Here are some ways you can help spread the word about circumcision:
- Bring it up the next time you’re having coffee with a friend. It’s a delicate issue, to be sure, but the only way past that is to just start talking about it, sharing your own experiences, asking questions, offering alternatives and information, and letting people know it’s ok to talk about it.
- Tell your doctors—pediatricians, family physicians, obstetricians—that you think circumcising babies is wrong, and tell them you hope they do not conduct this procedure. Be prepared with fact-based information explaining why it’s wrong. Use the ethics argument: medically unnecessary surgery performed on persons who cannot consent is unethical. When doctors say, “Well the parents insist,” remind them that the child—not the parent—is the patient.
- Use social media to get the word out. Facebook, Twitter, and even Pinterest are extremely effective ways of reaching a wide audience with a personal, important message. People listen… and if you ask them to share, they will.

An investigation has been launched, prompting New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to say, “Religious liberty simply does not extend to injuring others or putting children at risk. So we’ll continue working with the community and others to prevent more baby boys from suffering these tragic fates.” Read more >>
